Soccer Recap: Eastern Mennonite vs. The Covenant
Eastern Mennonite and The Covenant squared off in some playoff action on Friday, but Eastern Mennonite had to settle for second. They took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of The Covenant Eagles. Eastern Mennonite was red-hot offensively headed into the game (they scored no less than four goals in the four contests prior) but The Covenant's defense proved too tough.
Eastern Mennonite's loss ended a six-game streak of away wins and brought them to 11-4. As for The Covenant, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 12-2 record this season.
Eastern Mennonite will be playing in front of their home fans against Trinity at Meadow View at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. As for The Covenant, they will stay at home for another game and welcome Highland on Wednesday. Hopefully The Covenant is not getting complacent considering they own a much higher rank in Virginia (they are ranked seventh, while Highland is ranked 47th).
