Rocky River's game last Wednesday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Wednesday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Normandy Invaders an 11-0 shutout. Considering the Pirates have won seven contests by more than nine runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.
Reagan Kane made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out 12 over five innings pitched. She has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than eight strikeouts in five consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with two runs and one double.
In other batting news, Elizabeth Smalley was incredible, going 3-for-4 with four RBI and two runs. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April of 2024. Addie Dietrich also deserves some recognition as she brought in her first RBI of the season.
Rocky River kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. They are a perfect 6-0 when they post 11 or more hits.
Rocky River's record now sits at 8-5. As for Normandy, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost five of their last six matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-9 record this season.
