Baseball Recap: Woodstock Sets Scoring Season-High Against Harvard

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Woodstock). They were the clear victors by a 15-5 margin over the Harvard Hornets on Tuesday. The victory was familiar territory for the Blue Streaks, who have now won four matches in a row.

The team relied heavily on Cayden Holtzee, who went 3-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Woodstock is 2-1 when Holtzee posts three or more hits, but 6-14 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Everett Flannery, who went 1-for-4 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Woodstock kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. They are 6-2 when they post 11 or more hits.

Woodstock pushed their record up to 8-15 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.0 runs over those games. As for Harvard, they have been struggling recently as they've lost 17 of their last 18 contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-21 record this season.

Woodstock will square off against Round Lake at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Harvard, they will take on Elgin Academy at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
