Volleyball Recap: Sandhills Classical Christian Falls Despite Big Games from Jersi Olsen and Riley Jackson

If Sandhills Classical Christian was riding high fresh off their 3-0 takedown of Varsity Opponent on Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Lions fell 3-1 to the Cape Fear Christian Academy Eagles on Thursday.

Sandhills Classical Christian started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. The match finished with set scores of 23-25, 25-19, 25-10, 25-17.

Despite the defeat, Sandhills Classical Christian had strong showings from Riley Jackson, who had 27 digs and four aces, and Jersi Olsen, who had 19 digs, six kills, and two aces. Jackson has been hot recently, having posted 11 or more digs the last four times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Alex Andrews, who had 12 digs.

Sandhills Classical Christian now has a losing record of 3-4. As for Cape Fear Christian Academy, their win ended a six-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 3-8.

Looking ahead, Sandhills Classical Christian will be playing at home against Father Capodanno at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Cape Fear Christian Academy, they will venture away from home to square off against New Garden Friends at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
