Baseball Game Preview: Milan Bulldogs vs. Henry County Patriots

The Milan Bulldogs will head out on the road to face off against the Henry County Patriots at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Milan will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak.

On Tuesday, Milan got the win against Ripley by a conclusive 9-1.

Colton Mallard was excellent, going 1-for-3 with two runs and one RBI. He is becoming a predictor of Milan's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 3-1 (and 8-11 when he doesn't).

Cookeville hit Henry County with a four-run second inning on Saturday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Patriots lost 8-2 to the Cavaliers. The Patriots' defeat signaled the end of their five-game winning streak.

Henry County saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Peyten Littleton, who went 1-for-2 with one RBI.

Milan's victory was their eighth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-12. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. As for Henry County, their loss dropped their record down to 19-9.

Milan skirted past Henry County 10-9 in their previous meeting two weeks ago. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Bulldogs since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
