Baseball Recap: Bad Axe Comes Up Short

Bad Axe fought the good fight in their extra-innings contest against Unionville-Sebewaing on Thursday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Patriots by a score of 9-7. The Hatchets just can't catch a break and have now endured five losses in a row.

Gavin Pawlowski and Jackson Wolschlager stepped up to the plate in a big way. Pawlowski went 3-for-4 with two runs and one RBI, while Wolschlager went 2-for-4 with two runs and one triple. Brady Behnke also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Bad Axe's defeat dropped their record down to 5-20. As for Unionville-Sebewaing, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 14-10.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Bad Axe will host Caro at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Hatchets' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Tigers have averaged an impressive 6.2 runs per game this season. As for Unionville-Sebewaing, they will square off against Reese at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
