Baseball Recap: Gilbert Extends Road Winning Streak to Seven

It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Gilbert ultimately got the result they hoped for on Thursday. They had just enough and edged out the Brookland-Cayce Bearcats 2-1. The home team had taken home the W every time these teams have met since April 20, 2023, but that streak is no more.

Gilbert pushed their record up to 16-2 with the victory, which was their seventh straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for Brookland-Cayce, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-10.

Coming up, Gilbert will be taking part in a tournament against Horse Creek Academy at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Indians' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Stallions have averaged an impressive 8.4 runs per game this season.
