Baseball Game Preview: Boone Grove Wolves vs. 21st Century Charter Cougars

The Boone Grove Wolves will square off against the 21st Century Charter Cougars at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Boone Grove has ten straight wins, 21st Century Charter has 22 straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

While Boone Grove's victory against South Central wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Wolves had just enough and edged out the Satellites 9-8 on Friday.

Javy Carrera made a big impact no matter where he played. He struck out nine batters over 6.2 innings while giving up four earned (and two unearned) runs off three hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base.

In other batting news, Davian Carrera was excellent, going 1-for-4 with three RBI and one double. Another player making a difference was Maxwell Truby, who went 2-for-3 with two runs.

Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when 21st Century Charter duked it out with South Bend Washington on Saturday. The Cougars came up short against the Panthers, falling 12-5.

Boone Grove's win was their seventh straight at home, which pushed their record up to 20-5. The team dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 12.4 runs. As for 21st Century Charter, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-10.
