Basketball Game Preview: Milford Mill Academy Millers vs. Pikesville Panthers

The Milford Mill Academy Millers will head out on the road to face off against the Pikesville Panthers at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Milford Mill Academy's defense has only allowed 29.2 points per game this season, so Pikesville's offense will have their work cut out for them.

Milford Mill Academy was handed a heart-breaking three-point loss in their last match, but they sure didn't let that happen against Randallstown on Friday. Milford Mill Academy took their contest with ease, bagging a 57-12 victory over Randallstown. The Millers have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 12 games by 36 points or more this season.

Meanwhile, Pikesville entered their matchup against North Point on Saturday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. Pikesville took a 42-31 hit to the loss column at the hands of North Point. The contest marked the Panthers' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Milford Mill Academy will need to focus on slowing down Mariah Jones-Bey, one of several Pikesville players who made an impact when they last played. She posted eight points and six steals. Jones-Bey is crushing it when it comes to steals: she's grabbed at least three every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Qaidence David, who scored eight points in addition to seven rebounds and three blocks.

Even though they lost, Pikesville smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive rebounds every time they've taken the court this season.

Pikesville suffered their first home defeat, dropping their record down to 18-3. As for Milford Mill Academy, their win bumped their record up to 17-3.

Milford Mill Academy was taken down by Pikesville 70-16 in their previous meeting back in January of 2023. That match was all but decided by halftime, at which point Milford Mill Academy was down 36-5.
