Baseball Game Preview: Garces Memorial Rams vs. Templeton Eagles

The Garces Memorial Rams will take on the Templeton Eagles at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Garces Memorial is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.1 runs per game this season.

Garces Memorial is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. They came out on top against Exeter by a score of 7-4. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Rams as it put an end to their 11-game losing streak.

Samuel Gonzalez was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. He has become a key player for Garces Memorial: the team is 8-2 when he posts at least two runs, but 8-12 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Jett Lewis, who went 1-for-2 with one home run.

The scorekeeper got an easy start on Friday as neither Templeton nor Morro Bay made it on the board until the fifth inning. The Eagles never let the Pirates get on the board and left with a 2-0 victory. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Eagles have posted against the Pirates since March 26, 2018.

The result came thanks to Nate Argain's shutout, as he gave up just five hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Templeton's victory was truly a team effort as six different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Nick Capaci, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.

Garces Memorial's win bumped their record up to 16-14. As for Templeton, their victory bumped their record up to 14-15.

Templeton's pitching crew better be locked in on Tuesday. Garces Memorial hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.4 home runs per game.
