Basketball Recap: Jaxson Fazio Key Part of Team Effort in Miners Win

Creede won the last time they faced Antonito and things went their way on Saturday too. The Creede Miners came out on top against the Antonito Trojans by a score of 38-26. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Miners.

Creede got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Jaxson Fazio out in front who went 7-for-16 en route to 16 points along with three steals and three blocks. The game was Fazio's fourth in a row with at least 15 points. Another player making a difference was Charlie Fairchild, who posted nine points and seven steals.

Despite the loss, Antonito saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Matthew Mascarenes scored eight points.

Creede's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-12. Those victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 25.7 points over those games. As for Antonito, their defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 5-12.

As of now, neither Creede nor Antonito have any future games scheduled.
