Baseball Game Preview: Iroquois Redhawks vs. Williamsville South Billies

The Iroquois Redhawks will take on the Williamsville South Billies at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The squads are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Iroquois has struggled recently with three defeats in a row, while Williamsville South will arrive with four straight wins.

Iroquois will face Williamsville South after dropping another heartbreaker against Maryvale on Tuesday, which marked the second time in a row the team's come within 2.1 of beating them. The Redhawks fell just short of the Flyers by a score of 3-2.

Iroquois saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Slade McTigue, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base and one RBI.

Meanwhile, two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Williamsville South walked away with it. They never let the Eagles get on the board and left with a 10-0 victory on Saturday. Ten seems to be a good number for the Billies as the team scooped up a win with the same number of runs in their previous game.

Williamsville South pushed their record up to 11-7 with the victory, which was their sixth straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.8 runs over those games. As for Iroquois, their loss dropped their record down to 10-4.

Iroquois suffered a grim 29-5 defeat to Williamsville South in their previous meeting back in May of 2023. Can the Redhawks avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
