Softball Recap: Spencer County Has No Trouble Against Trimble County

Spencer County had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the six-run drubbing they dealt Trimble County on Friday. The Bears put the hurt on the Raiders with a sharp 11-5 victory. The Bears might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six matches by six runs or more this season.

The team relied heavily on Brooklyn Hunt, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last four games she's played. Lilly Long also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Spencer County kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least 11 hits in four consecutive contests.

Spencer County is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-6 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.3 runs over those games. As for Trimble County, they dropped their record down to 7-4 with the loss, which was their third straight on the road.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Spencer County will host Anderson County at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Trimble County, they will welcome Walton-Verona at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Raiders are facing the Bearcats at the right time seeing as the Bearcats are stuck on a five-game losing streak.
