Newsome kept a clean sheet against Plant on Tuesday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Plant Panthers, sneaking past 1-0. Give Wolves' defense some credit: that's the team's third straight shutout.

Their one-goal win came courtesy of Mario Lamelas, which was the first he's scored this season.

Newsome's victory bumped their record up to 8-2. As for Plant, their loss ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 9-3-2.

Newsome and Plant should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Florida Rankings. Newsome (ranked 163rd) will meet Gaither (ranked 389th) at 8:00 p.m. on Friday. Newsome is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 4.7 goals per game this season. Similarly, Plant will challenge Wharton at 8:00 p.m. on Friday up 146 places (129 vs. 275).
