Baseball Preview: Canton Warriors vs. Somers Spartans
Canton and Somers are an even 5-5 against one another since May of 2018, but likely not for long. The Warriors will host the Spartans at 4:15 p.m. on Monday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
For whatever reason, it's the away team that's had the advantage when Canton and Granby Memorial meet (four straight games heading into this one) and that held true again on Tuesday. The Warriors were the clear victors by a 7-1 margin over the Bears. The Warriors haven't had any issues with the Bears recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.
Grant Chambers tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run over 6.2 innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Canton is undefeated when he allows at most one earned run, but 4-6 otherwise.

At the plate, Wyatt Bernabucci was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and one stolen base. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high. Kyle Hiscox was another key player, going 1-for-3 with three stolen bases and two runs.
Meanwhile, after only two runs in their last contest, Somers made sure to put some runs up on the board against Bolton on Friday. The Spartans blew past the Bulldogs 11-1.
Canton now has a winning record of 7-6. As for Somers, their victory bumped their record up to 8-1.
