Softball Game Preview: Preston Knights vs. Southern Rams

Preston hasn't had much luck against Southern recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. Preston will look to defend their home field against Southern at 5:30 p.m. Southern took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Preston, who comes in off a win.

Preston will bounce into Thursday's match after beating Buckhannon-Upshur, who they had gone 0-9 against in their nine prior meetings. Preston had just enough and edged out Buckhannon-Upshur 5-4. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last four times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Mckenzie Price made a big impact no matter where she played. She struck out 11 batters over seven innings while giving up four earned runs off seven hits. Price was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-4.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Rhylinn Sanders, who went 2-for-4 with one triple, one stolen base, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Hannah Liston, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 1-for-2.

Meanwhile, Southern had to start their season on the road on Monday, and it wasn't the start they were hoping for. They fell just short of Fort Hill by a score of 3-2.
