Basketball Recap: Zhoie Stanley Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Northeast

Academy for Classical Education won the last time they faced Northeast and things went their way on Saturday too. The Academy for Classical Education Gryphons took down the Northeast Raiders 57-39. Given the Gryphons' advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 126th, while the Raiders are ranked 316th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Academy for Classical Education got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Zhoie Stanley out in front who posted seven points in addition to seven assists and four steals. Stanley is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed three or more in the last 12 games she's played. Sara Rhett Farmer was another key player, putting up 15 points.

Stanley wasn't the only one working in the assist department: Academy for Classical Education was working as a unit and finished the game with 20 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Northeast only racked up five assists.

Northeast lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Jada Smith, who earned nine points and five boards. Another player making a difference was Alayla Hooks, who scored 13 points.

The win made it two in a row for Academy for Classical Education and bumps their season record up to 20-3. A key ingredient in that success has been their performance when it comes to three-point shooting accuracy: their three-point shooting accuracy was 36.4% in those games and 25.1% outside of them. As for Northeast, their loss dropped their record down to 8-12.

Academy for Classical Education does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Northeast, they and Southwest will meet in a classic North v. South matchup at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Northeast is facing Southwest at the right time seeing as Southwest is stuck on a 12-game losing streak.
