Softball Recap: Plainfield Central Gets the Win

Plainfield East typically has all the answers at home, but on Monday Plainfield Central proved too difficult a challenge. They walked away with an 8-5 win over the Bengals. This was a revenge game for the Wildcats: when they faced off against the Bengals back in April, they had to take a 8-4 loss.

Jamie Crawford spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered five runs (all of which were unearned) on six hits.

At the plate, Sophia Patterson was incredible, going 3-for-4 with two runs, two RBI, and one double. That's the most runs she has posted since back in April.

Plainfield Central now has a winning record of 13-12-1. As for Plainfield East, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 16-11 record this season.

The Wildcats are facing the Spartans at the right time seeing as the Spartans are stuck on an eight-game losing streak. As for Plainfield East, they will square off against Downers Grove South at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Bengals' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Mustangs have averaged an impressive 7 runs per game this season.
