Baseball Game Preview: Francis Lewis Patriots vs. John Adams Spartans

The Francis Lewis Patriots will venture away from home to face off against the John Adams Spartans at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Francis Lewis will be strutting in after a victory while John Adams will be coming in after a defeat.

Francis Lewis lost a heartbreaker the last time they played Stuyvesant, but it's fair to say they got their revenge given the result of Thursday's match. The Patriots' pitcher stepped up to hand the Peglegs a 10-0 shutout on Thursday. Considering the Patriots have won six games by more than seven runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Renos Pagiatakas made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out 11 over five innings pitched. He has been consistent: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in five consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one home run. That home run was his first of the season.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Espn Fan, who went 3-for-4 with one triple, one stolen base, and two RBI. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. Nathan Pichardo was another key player, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with two RBI and one run.

Francis Lewis was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .423. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Meanwhile, John Adams came up short against Beacon on Tuesday, falling 12-2. The Spartans haven't had much luck with the Blue Demons recently, as the team has come up short the last four times they've met.

Francis Lewis pushed their record up to 10-4 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.5 runs over those games. As for John Adams, their loss dropped their record down to 3-6.

Everything went Francis Lewis' way against John Adams in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, as Francis Lewis made off with a 9-0 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Patriots since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
