Basketball Recap: Porter Ridge Gets the Win

Porter Ridge won the last time they faced Cuthbertson, and Ashanti Taylor did her part to make sure it happened again. The Porter Ridge Pirates took their match on Tuesday with ease, bagging a 73-42 win over the Cuthbertson Cavaliers thanks in part to Taylor, who dropped a double-double on 28 points and 16 rebounds. Her evening made it 23 games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points.

Molly Malcolm was another key player, putting up 14 points. Those 14 points gave her a new career-high.

Cuthbertson's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Amayah Rogers, who went 10 for 15 en route to 23 points, and Riley Howell, who dropped a double-double on ten points and ten boards. Rogers has been hot, having posted 15 or more points the last five times she's played.

Porter Ridge's victory bumped their record up to 16-5. As for Cuthbertson, they have also been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last eight contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-11 record this season.

Coincidentally, the two teams will both be playing Weddington the next time they take the court. Cuthbertson will head out to face Weddington at 6:00 p.m. on Friday, while Porter Ridge will head out to face them at 6:00 p.m. on February 11th.
