Baseball Recap: Tonasket Comes Up Short

The home team had won the previous four meetings between Tonasket and Brewster, and Brewster kept the tradition alive. Tonasket lost 13-1 to Brewster on Saturday. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Bears this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 6-5 on Saturday.

Tonasket saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Isaiah Spangler, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3. Spangler is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last four games he's played.

Tonasket has been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-5 record this season. Those losses can't be blamed on the team's hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.2 runs over those games. Brewster's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 5-1.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Tonasket will venture away from home to square off against Kittitas at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Kittitas' pitching crew has only allowed 1.2 runs per game this season, so Tonasket's hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Brewster, they will head out on the road to challenge River View at 1:00 p.m. on Monday.
