Basketball Recap: West Point-Beemer Takes a Loss

West Point-Beemer entered their contest against Wayne on Friday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. The Cadets fell 53-47 to the Blue Devils. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Cadets of the 66-62 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in December of 2024.

Loss or not, West Point-Beemer got some senior leadership from Hunter Swanson and Peyton Penrose. Swanson shot 45% from the field on his way to 16 points and six assists, while Penrose posted 11 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Mason Toelle, who scored seven points.

Jace Jorgensen was his usual excellent self, going 9-for-13 to rack up 18 points along with seven rebounds and six assists for Wayne. Thanks to that strong game, Jorgensen now owns an excellent 45.5% shooting accuracy. Another player making a difference was Theo Claussen, who earned ten points and six boards.

West Point-Beemer's defeat dropped their record down to 4-3. As for Wayne, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 3-2.

Looking ahead, West Point-Beemer will be home for the holidays to greet Douglas County West at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Wayne, they won't have much time to rest: their next game is against O'Neill at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday.
