Recap: Irvine Vaqueros vs. San Clemente Tritons

The Irvine Vaqueros struggled with assists on Monday (the San Clemente Tritons had 11 more) and sadly the final score reflected it. Irvine's rough 58-33 defeat to San Clemente might stick with them for a while. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Irvine has scored all season.

Several Vaqueros players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Jaesang An, who scored ten points along with three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Taewon Kim, who scored 11 points along with three steals.

Porter Hansen continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for San Clemente, scoring 14 points along with five rebounds and three blocks. The matchup was Hansen's ninth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Will Whidden, who scored six points along with three steals.

Irvine has not been sharp recently, as they've lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-6 record this season. As for San Clemente, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 10-3.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Irvine will be home for the holidays to greet Whitney at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. San Clemente will take on Laguna Beach at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. That game will pit two of the most dominant players against one another: Dylan Mceachern and Hansen.
