Baseball Game Preview: Buena Vista Demons vs. Clear Creek Golddiggers

The Buena Vista Demons will venture away from home to face off against the Clear Creek Golddiggers at 2:30 p.m. on Monday. Buena Vista is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.8 runs per game this season.

Buena Vista's pitching crew heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Saturday. They were the clear victors by a 15-0 margin over Ellicott. The win continues a trend for the Demons in their matchups with the Thunderhawks: they've now won seven in a row.

Trey Cardwell was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI and one double. He is becoming a predictor of Buena Vista's success: when he posts at least three RBI the team is undefeated (and 7-11 when he doesn't). Carter Stromer was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

Buena Vista always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .636. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .500 or higher in three consecutive games.

Meanwhile, Clear Creek came up short against Dawson School on Thursday, falling 13-4. The Golddiggers have struggled against the Mustangs recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive lost meeting.

Landon Lewis was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-3 with three RBI, two doubles, and one run.

Clear Creek's defeat dropped their record down to 6-8. As for Buena Vista, their victory bumped their record up to 10-11.

Buena Vista skirted past Clear Creek 1-0 in their previous matchup back in May of 2023. Do the Demons have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Golddiggers turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
