Softball Preview: Mountain View Toros vs. Westwood Warriors

Mountain View is 8-2 against Westwood since April of 2018, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Thursday. The Mountain View Toros will head out on the road to take on the Westwood Warriors at 6:00 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

On Wednesday, Mountain View got themselves on the board against Skyline, but Skyline never followed suit. Everything went their way against the Coyotes as they made off with a 15-0 win. The victory was just what Mountain View needed coming off of a 9-0 loss in their prior match.

Eliza Bark made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits (she also didn't allow any walks). Bark was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 1-for-3.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Keelie Goodman, who scored three runs while going 4-for-4. Another player making a difference was Tatum Eaton, who scored two runs while going 2-for-3.

Westwood was handed a two-point defeat in their last contest, but they sure didn't let that happen against Mesa on Wednesday. Westwood put the hurt on Mesa with a sharp 19-6 win. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for Westwood considering their one-run performance the matchup before.

Navi Brinkerhoff and Hope Hutchins did most of the damage at the plate: Brinkerhoff went 3-for-4 with a home run, five RBI, and three runs, while Hutchins scored four runs and stole a base while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances. The team also got some help courtesy of Lexi Vasquez, who scored a run while going 1-for-2.

Mountain View has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games, which provided a massive bump to their 10-12 record this season. As for Westwood, their victory bumped their record up to 10-8.
