Preview: Avonworth Antelopes vs. State College Little Lions
The Avonworth Antelopes will wrap up 2023 with a road trip to face off against the State College Little Lions at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Avonworth knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past three matchups -- so hopefully State College likes a good challenge.
Even though Avonworth has not done well against Union Area recently (they were 0-4 in their previous four matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. Avonworth claimed a resounding 91-63 win over Union Area on the road. Avonworth's offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.
Meanwhile, State College might have been a little too into the holiday spirit, gifting Cumberland Valley an easy 63-42 win. While losing is never fun, State College can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 241st, while Cumberland Valley is ranked 24th).
Avonworth's win bumped their record up to 5-2. As for State College, their loss dropped their record down to 3-3.
