Basketball Recap: Ellington Comes Up Short

Ellington extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to six on Friday, dropping them down to 0-5. They lost 60-39 to the Westwood Baptist Academy Eagles. The Whippets were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Eagles apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in January.

As for Westwood Baptist Academy, their record now sits at 6-2. They have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won four contests by 21 points or more this season.

Westwood Baptist Academy had a senior duo take command as Anden Moore dropped a double-double with 22 points and 16 rebounds and Robbie Dodd went 9-for-16 en route to 22 points in addition to six boards and four steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Moore has scored all season. Gage Barker was another key player, putting up 11 points and three steals.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Ellington will take on Bunker in a holiday battle at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Westwood Baptist Academy, they will venture away from home to face off against Victory Christian Academy at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. The Eagles' defense better be ready for this one: the Chargers have averaged an impressive 58.2 points per game this season.
