Volleyball Recap: Mclaurin's Win on Tuesday Extends Winning Streak to Five

McLaurin entered their tilt with St. Aloysius on Tuesday with four consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with five. They walked away with a 3-1 win over the Flashes. That's the third time they've managed to beat them this season, with their most recent victory being a 3-2 win back in August.

McLaurin had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first set, they turned around to win the next three. The match finished with set scores of 21-25, 25-19, 25-15, 25-23.

Leading McLaurin to victory were Kaylee Holeman and Brooklyn Irby. Holeman had 30 digs and two aces, while Irby had 33 digs and five aces. Those 33 digs gave Irby a new career-high.

They weren't the only good servers: McLaurin was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 26 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least eight aces every time they've taken the court this season.

McLaurin's record is now 16-3. As for St. Aloysius, they are on a 15-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-9.

McLaurin wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 3-0 victory against Piney Woods on the 25th. As for St. Aloysius, they will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on St. Joseph Catholic at 6:00 p.m. on October 7.
