Softball Recap: Catalina Foothills Takes a Loss

Catalina Foothills had lost eight straight on the road, but on Thursday they dropped their record down to 1-17 to make it nine. They came up short against the Casa Grande Cougars, falling 19-2. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Cougars this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 31-5 back in March.

As for Casa Grande, their victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 14-7. The result was nothing new for the Cougars, who have now won eight matches by eight runs or more so far this season.

For Casa Grande's part, Khiyah Barnett looked comfortable as she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over four innings pitched.

On the hitting side, Casa Grande got a massive performance out of Adyson McClintic, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. That's the most RBI McClintic has posted since back in March of 2024. Trinity Diaz was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and three doubles.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Catalina Foothills will head out to square off against Mountain View at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The Falcons' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Mountain Lions have averaged an impressive 9 runs per game this season. As for Casa Grande, they will venture away from home to challenge Maricopa at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Cougars' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Rams have averaged an impressive 8 runs per game this season.
