Softball Game Preview: Winn Mavericks vs. MacArthur Brahmas

The Winn Mavericks will take on the MacArthur Brahmas at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Winn has given up an average of 6.8 runs per game this season, but Monday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Winn fell victim to South San Antonio and their airtight pitching crew on Friday. They lost 11-0 to the Bobcats. The loss continues a trend for the Mavericks in their meetings with the Bobcats: they've now lost six in a row.

Winn saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Julee Salinas, who went 1-for-2 with one double.

Meanwhile, MacArthur got themselves on the board against Harlandale on Friday, but Harlandale never followed suit. They put the hurt on the Indians with a sharp 15-0 victory. With that win, the Brahmas brought their scoring average up to 6.1 runs per game.

Not much got past Kaylin Salazar, who gave up just four hits and racked up seven Ks to keep Harlandale off the board.

On the hitting side, MacArthur got a massive performance out of Katelin Keller, who scored four runs while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances. Those four runs gave Keller a new career-high. Jaden Neira was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-4.

MacArthur kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post 11 or more hits.

MacArthur's victory bumped their record up to 8-9-1. As for Winn, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-13.
