Basketball Game Preview: South Stanly Rowdy Rebel Bulls vs. Union Academy Cardinals

The South Stanly Rowdy Rebel Bulls will head out on the road to square off against the Union Academy Cardinals at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.

South Stanly took a loss when they played away from home on Friday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. They took down North Stanly 58-44. The victory was all the more spectacular given the Rowdy Rebel Bulls' disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 315th, while the Comets are ranked 131st).

Meanwhile, Union Academy waltzed into their match on Tuesday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They blew past the Knights, posting a 73-28 win. The Cardinals have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won eight contests by 21 points or more this season.

Union Academy's victory bumped their record up to 12-6. As for South Stanly, they are also on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven games, which provided a nice bump to their 14-7 record this season.

South Stanly was able to grind out a solid win over Union Academy in their previous meeting back in January, winning 55-48. The rematch might be a little tougher for South Stanly since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
