The Seminole Chieftains will head out to challenge the McLoud Redskins at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Seminole has given up an average of 33.8 points per game this season, but Thursday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Seminole is headed into the game out to prove that what happened against Perkins-Tryon on Friday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. The Chieftains were outmatched by the Demons and fell 63-26. The Chieftains were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 42-14.
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from Donavin Garfield, who rushed for 140 yards and one touchdown, and also threw for 144 yards and three TDs on only ten passes. His longest rush was for an impressive 50 yards, which helps to explain his lofty yards per carry total. Seminole's leading receiver Jay Ladd was Garfield's top target yet again, picking up 121 receiving yards and a pair of scores.
Meanwhile, McLoud is still winless after their contest against Victory Christian on Thursday, but the team can take solace in the fact it was the closest they've come to winning. They were three points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 33-30 heartbreaker at the hands of the Conquerors. The Redskins were right on the edge of victory: they outscored the Conquerors in the fourth quarter 8-0.
Seminole will have to contain Leroy Thomas as he made an impact in McLoud's last game. He rushed for 119 yards and a pair of touchdowns, and also picked up 48 receiving yards and one TD.
Having lost for the first time this season, Seminole fell to 5-1. As for McLoud, their loss dropped their record down to 0-6.
Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Thursday's matchup: Seminole has been on an offensive roll this season, having averaged 406.7 total yards per game. It's a different story for McLoud, though, as they've been averaging only 231.7 total yards. Will Seminole be able to march up the field at their leisure again, or will the Redskins flip the script?
Everything came up roses for Seminole against McLoud in their previous meeting back in October of 2024, as the team secured a 44-14 victory. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was the Redskins' Shaun Hill, who picked up 79 receiving yards and one score, and also rushed for 78 yards.
