Football Recap: Rouse's Undefeated Season over After Three Games

The matchup between Rouse and Midway on Thursday hardly resembled the 17-6 effort from their previous meeting. The Raiders fell 38-28 to the Panthers. While losing is never fun, the Raiders can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 258th, while the Panthers are ranked 104th).

Despite the loss, Rouse still got an impressive performance from London Morgan, who threw for 379 yards and four TDs while completing 73.7% of his passes. Morgan is crushing it when it comes to passing yards: he's passed for at least 375 every time he's taken the field this season. Alfredo Lopez also helped with two scores in total.

Midway got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Lathan Whisenton out in front who rushed for 147 yards and a pair of touchdowns on only 15 carries. That's the most rushing yards Whisenton has posted since back in October of 2024. Another player making a difference was Andrew McNair, who threw for 245 yards and two TDs on only 18 passes.

Having lost for the first time this season, Rouse fell to 2-1. As for Midway, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 3-0.

After each having a week off, Rouse and Lake Belton will shake off the cobwebs and hit the field against one another at 7:00 p.m. on the 26th. The matchup will give the Raiders their first taste of in-conference action this season. As for Midway, they will be defending their home field for the first time this season when they go up against Mansfield at 7:00 p.m. on the 19th.
