Softball Recap: Coventry Takes a Loss

Coventry fought the good fight in their extra-innings game against Smithfield on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Sentinels by a score of 2-1. The Oakers' defeat signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

Sage SoareS spent all nine innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on five hits and racked up 15 Ks. She has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in five consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Leah Lapham was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, one double, and one RBI.

Coventry's record is now 13-7. As for Smithfield, their record now sits at an identical 13-7.

As of now, neither Coventry nor the Sentinels have any future games scheduled.
