Baseball Game Preview: Anderson Cubs vs. Yreka Miners

For the second straight game, Anderson will face off against Yreka. The Cubs will face off against the Miners at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Anderson's hitters haven't had much luck over their past seven games, but Friday's match will give them a chance to turn things around.

Tuesday just wasn't the day for Anderson's offense. They came up short against Yreka on Tuesday, falling 23-0.

For Yreka's part, Brody Zediker made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). That's the most strikeouts Zediker has posted since back in March of 2024. He was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with four runs, three RBI, and one double. He has become a key player for Yreka: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 3-13 otherwise.

In other batting news, Yreka let Laydon Luce and Gabe Gregg run wild. Luce got on base in four of his five plate appearances with five runs, three RBI, and one stolen base, while Gregg went 3-for-5 with four runs, three RBI, and one stolen base. That's the most RBI Gregg has posted since back in March. Zane Vann was another key player, going 3-for-5 with three runs, one double, and one RBI.

Yreka kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 18 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Anderson only managed one hit.

Anderson's defeat dropped their record down to 1-13. As for Yreka, they moved to 7-13 with that win, which also ended their three-game losing streak.
