Recap: Matanzas Pirates vs. Palatka Panthers
The Matanzas Pirates lost against the Palatka Panthers back in January, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The matchup between the two teams wasn't particularly close, with Matanzas falling 40-24. They have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Palatka got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Jhane Fountain out in front who scored 18 points. That makes it two consecutive games in which Fountain has scored at least 25% of Palatka's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Charnelle Cue , who scored 9 points along with 7 rebounds.
The last time Matanzas won on the road was back on Wednesday. Having now lost four straight away contests, they've bumped their record down to 1-4. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 22.3 points per game. As for Palatka, they now have a winning record of 2-1.
Matanzas will be playing at home against Menendez at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Palatka, they will head out on the road to face off against Seabreeze at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday. Hopefully Seabreeze focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 31 on Thursday.
