Basketball Recap: Southern Triumphs

Southern won the last time they faced LKY and things went their way on Thursday too. The Southern Trojans walked away with a 72-60 victory over the LKY Saints.

When it comes to explaining why LKY lost, don't look at Marshall McCartney. Despite the final result, he went 8 for 10 en route to 20 points and six rebounds. Those 20 points gave McCartney a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Ezekiel Taylor, who posted 15 points and five assists.

Southern's win bumped their record up to 8-13. As for LKY, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost 11 of their last 14 games, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-16 record this season.

Southern didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, an 88-58 loss against Fairdale on the 7th. As for LKY, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Bluegrass United at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday. LKY is facing Bluegrass United at the right time seeing as Bluegrass United is stuck on a four-game losing streak.
