Football Recap: Emerald Wins Going Away Against Broome

Emerald lost a heartbreaker the last time they played Broome, but it's fair to say they got their revenge given the result of Friday's match. The Vikings blew past the Centurions 42-18 on Friday. Considering the Vikings have won three contests by more than 20 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Christopher Dean had a dynamite game, rushing for 185 yards and one TD on only 14 carries, while also picking up 32 receiving yards and one touchdown. Those 185 rushing yards gave him a new career-high. Rykevius Logan was in the mix as well, providing Emerald with two scores.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Emerald was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 232 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've managed all season.

Emerald's defense stepped up as well, laying out Jameson Dearybury. four times. Jalon Dunlap refused to say out of the backfield, picking up 1.5 sacks all by himself. Tyrell Wesley got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.

Broome's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Brayden Simpson, who picked up 213 receiving yards and a pair of touchdowns. The team also got some help courtesy of Dearybury, who threw for 348 yards and a pair of TDs.

Emerald's win bumped their record up to 3-1. As for Broome, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-3.

Coming up, Emerald will square off against Strom Thurmond at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Broome, they will challenge Powdersville at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The Patriots will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something the Centurions surely won't give up without a fight.
