Baseball Recap: Keys Gate Comes Up Short

Coral Reef hit Keys Gate with a four-run first inning on Tuesday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Knights fell 7-3 to the Barracudas. The Knights just can't catch a break and have now endured five losses in a row.

Keys Gate got a good showing from Luis Medina, who tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. That's the fewest hits Medina has allowed since back in March.

At the plate, Keys Gate saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Edison Arencibia, who went 1-for-2 with one run.

Keys Gate's defeat dropped their record down to 9-14. As for Coral Reef, their win bumped their record up to 6-17-1.

Keys Gate and Coral Reef could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Florida Rankings. The Knights will challenge St. Brendan at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday with a big rank disadvantage (337 vs. 87). Meanwhile, Coral Reef (ranked 388th) will meet Westminster Christian (ranked 50th) at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
