Basketball Game Preview: Wisner-Pilger Gators vs. Humphrey-Lindsay Bulldogs

Wisner-Pilger hasn't had much luck against Humphrey-Lindsay recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Wisner-Pilger Gators just played last yesterday, but they'll still welcome the Humphrey-Lindsay Bulldogs at 7:30 p.m.

Wisner-Pilger is headed into the contest out to prove that what happened against Wakefield on Monday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. Wisner-Pilger took a blow against Wakefield, falling 69-41. The Gators have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Humphrey-Lindsay, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Thursday. They walked away with a 61-53 win over Laurel-Concord-Coleridge on Friday.

Wisner-Pilger better keep an eye on Owen Kurtenbach. He was instrumental in Humphrey-Lindsay's win, almost dropping a triple-double on 17 points, 16 boards, and nine assists. With that strong performance, Kurtenbach is now averaging an impressive 8.6 boards per game. Another player making a difference was Gavin Groteluschen, who posted eight points.

Humphrey-Lindsay was working as a unit and finished the game with 19 assists. That's the most assists they've posted since back in January of 2024.

Wisner-Pilger's defeat dropped their record down to 2-9. As for Humphrey-Lindsay, their victory bumped their record up to 5-6.

Wisner-Pilger took a serious blow against Humphrey-Lindsay when the teams last played back in January of 2024, falling 70-39. That match was all but decided by halftime, at which point Wisner-Pilger was down 41-15.
