Space Coast has gone 9-1 against West Shore recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Monday. The Space Coast Vipers will head out to challenge the West Shore Wildcats at 7:00 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Space Coast has four straight wins, West Shore has four straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the court.
Space Coast's offense will try to repeat the strong performance it gave on Monday, when they got past Roosevelt's usually-dominant defense. Couldn't have asked for a better way to wrap up 2024 than the 74-24 stomp they got against Roosevelt. The Vipers have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won five games by 20 points or more this season.
Space Coast found their leader in sophomore Phillayjah Carroll, who posted 21 points. Another player making a difference was Kamiiah Jenkins, who had 15 points.
Meanwhile, West Shore ended up a good deal behind Satellite back in December of 2024 and lost 47-30. While losing is never fun, the Wildcats can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 497th, while the Scorpions are ranked 232nd).
Space Coast will need focus on slowing down Kaelani Luther, one of several West Shore players who made an impact when they last played. She posted 19 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Emily Marshall, who earned four points and 12 rebounds.
Even though they lost, West Shore smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive boards. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Space Coast has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 9-5 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 57.2 points per game. As for West Shore, their loss dropped their record down to 2-5.
Everything came up roses for Space Coast against West Shore in their previous matchup back in December of 2022, as the squad secured a 68-39 victory. Does Space Coast have another victory up their sleeve, or will West Shore turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
