Baseball Recap: Long Branch Takes a Loss

Long Branch dropped their record down to 5-5 on Thursday, which also ended the team's three-game streak of wins on the road. They fell just short of the Lakewood Piners by a score of 12-11. The Green Wave were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Piners earlier this season, when they won 9-0.

As for Lakewood, they moved to 3-7 with that victory, which also ended their four-game losing streak. Considering their hitters had been struggling lately, the high-scoring outing was a much-needed turnaround.

For Lakewood's part, they got a massive performance out of Cris Rosario, who went 3-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and one stolen base. That's the most runs Rosario has posted since back in May of 2024. Another player making a difference was Fernando Gomez, who went 1-for-4 with four stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.

Coming up, Long Branch will square off against Shore Regional at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Lakewood, they will face off against LEAP Academy at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The Piners are facing the Lancers at the right time seeing as the Lancers are stuck on a four-game losing streak.
