Soccer Game Preview: Arvada vs. Bennett

The Arvada Bulldogs will take on the Bennett Tigers at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Neither squad made it on the board the last time they hit the pitch, so they've probably got a bit of extra motivation.

Arvada is likely headed into the contest with a focus on the second half, which is when things went downhill against Englewood on Wednesday. The Bulldogs fell just short of the Pirates by a score of 1-0. The loss continues a trend for Arvada in their meetings with Englewood: they've now lost eight in a row.

Arvada was without their leading scorer, Nora Rice, in Wednesday's game. With Rice sitting this one out, Aylin Leon Orrantia got some extra time on the pitch (80 vs. her season average of 52.5).

Meanwhile, Bennett fell victim to Englewood and their airtight defense on Monday. They fell just short of the Pirates by a score of 1-0. The shutout was out of character for Bennett seeing as the last time the team failed to score was back in March.

Bennett has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-6-1 record this season. That patch can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 11 goals over those four contests. As for Arvada, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-7.

Arvada might still be hurting after the 8-3 loss they got from Bennett in their previous meeting back in March of 2024. That game was all but decided by halftime, at which point the Bulldogs were down 5-2.
