Softball Game Preview: Lincoln Lions vs. North Providence Cougars

The Lincoln Lions will head out on the road to challenge the North Providence Cougars at 11:00 a.m. on Sunday. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Lincoln is headed into Sunday's matchup looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their third straight game on Monday. They lost 10-2 to South Kingstown.

Charlotte Labossiere made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. Avery Morin also deserves some recognition as she brought in her first RBI of the season.

Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when North Providence faced off against Johnston on Thursday. The Cougars came up short against the Panthers, falling 15-0. The Cougars haven't had much luck with the Panthers recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.

North Providence's defeat dropped their record down to 1-5. As for Lincoln, their loss dropped their record down to 2-5.

North Providence's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Lincoln hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .326. It's a different story for North Providence, though, as they've only averaged .218. Will they be able to contain Lincoln's hitters?

Lincoln couldn't quite get it done against North Providence in their previous meeting back in May of 2023 as they fell 10-6. Can the Lions avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
