Softball Preview: Rifle Bears vs. Cedaredge Bruins
Rifle is 10-0 against Cedaredge since September of 2016, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Rifle Bears and the Cedaredge Bruins will meet for a tough Bear Battle. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.
On Wednesday, Rifle came up short against Palisade and fell 14-11.
Katherine Santana and Ella Jackson stepped up to the plate in a big way. Santana scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in all five of her plate appearances, while Jackson scored two runs while going 3-for-4. Even though they lost, Cedaredge kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now hit at least ten hits in nine consecutive matchups.
Rifle's defeat was their fifth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 9-13. As for Cedaredge, their loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 13-8.
