Softball Recap: Billings West Falls Short Against Ranked Belgrade

Billings West faced Belgrade in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Monday. The Golden Bears fell just short of the Panthers by a score of 5-3. The home team had taken home the W every time these teams have met since April 11, 2023, but that streak is no more.

Kylee King spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered five earned runs on six hits and racked up nine Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Tatum Bush made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-4 with one home run. The team also got some help courtesy of Quinn Freitag, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one double.

With the defeat, Billings West broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 11-6. As for Belgrade, they have been performing well recently as they've won ten of their last 13 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-4-1 record this season.
