Basketball Game Preview: Roosevelt Roughriders vs. Pueblo County Hornets

The Roosevelt Roughriders just played yesterday, but they'll still head out to face the Pueblo County Hornets at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Roosevelt will be strutting in after a win while Pueblo County will be coming in after a loss.

Roosevelt saw some tournament action on Friday. They took down Canon City 51-32. The Roughriders pushed the score to 43-21 by the end of the third, a deficit the Tigers cut but never quite recovered from.

Roosevelt can attribute much of their success to Brody Burke, who dropped a double-double with ten points and 14 boards, and Jack Cook, who shot 55% from the field to rack up 17 points. The dominant performance also gave Burke a new career-high in assists (two). Heydyn Bahnsen-Price was another key player, putting up ten points.

Meanwhile, Pueblo County played a tough matchup on Friday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They lost 67-42 to Silver Creek. The Hornets haven't had much luck with the Raptors recently, as the team has come up short the last six times they've met.

Roosevelt has started the season off flawlessly and has a 2-0 record to show for it. The victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they've averaged 61.5 points this season. As for Pueblo County, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-1.

Roosevelt couldn't quite get it done against Pueblo County in their previous matchup back in January of 2019 as they fell 42-32. Can the Roughriders avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
