The Troy Trojans are taking a road trip to challenge the Mansfield Tigers at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Troy will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak.
On Tuesday, Troy got the win against Wyalusing Valley by a conclusive 13-3. The result was nothing new for the Trojans, who have now won seven matchups by seven runs or more so far this season.
Camden Allen made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over three innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits. Allen was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in May of 2024.
In other batting news, Brendan Gilliland was incredible, going 3-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Reed Palmer was another key player, going 1-for-3 with three runs and two RBI.
Meanwhile, Mansfield came up short against Towanda on Tuesday, falling 14-5. The Tigers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Riley Oakes and Cooper Shaw stepped up to the plate in a big way. Oakes went 2-for-4 with one home run, two RBI, and one double, while Shaw went 1-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.
Mansfield's defeat dropped their record down to 9-3. As for Troy, their record now sits at 9-4.
Thursday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Troy hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .363. However, it's not like Mansfield struggles in that department as they've averaged .356. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Troy couldn't quite finish off Mansfield in their previous matchup back in March and fell 6-4. Can the Trojans avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
