The George County Rebels will take on the Baker Hornets at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.
George County was handed a heart-breaking two-run defeat in their last matchup, but they sure didn't let that happen against East Central on Tuesday. The Rebels were the clear victors by a 10-1 margin over the Hornets. The contest marked the Rebels' most dominant win of the season so far.

Addison Davis spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on six hits and racked up six Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts any time she's pitched this season.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Blakley Slay, who went 3-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. Another player making a difference was Aryana Dixon, who went 1-for-4 with one home run.
George County lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've posted since back in March of 2025.
Meanwhile, Baker made easy work of Baldwin County on Tuesday and carried off a 9-2 victory. With that win, the Hornets brought their scoring average up to 6.6 runs per game.
KATLYN CONE made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out ten batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in February of 2025. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one home run and three RBI. That home run marked the first that she has launched this season.
In other batting news, NOLA HAVARD was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. She also put up a triple, which was her first of the season. REBECCA SMITH was another key player, going 3-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.
Baker's victory bumped their record up to 3-1-1. As for George County, the win got them back to even at 3-3.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Thursday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. George County has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 8.7 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Baker struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 8.2 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
George County came up short against Baker in their previous matchup back in March of 2017, falling 6-3. Can the Rebels avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
