Softball Game Preview: Sparks Railroaders vs. Elko Indians

Sparks is 0-10 against Elko since April of 2017 but things could change on Friday. The Sparks Railroaders will look to take advantage of their home field for the first time this season as they take on the Elko Indians at 4:00 p.m.

Saturday just wasn't the day for Sparks' offense. They came up short against Fernley on Saturday, falling 20-0.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Elko). Everything went their way against Wooster on Friday as Elko made off with an 18-1 win. With that victory, the Indians brought their scoring average up to 7 runs per game.

The team relied heavily on Addison Seipp, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Elizabeth Romero was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-2.

Elko hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They are 2-1 when they post two or more strikeouts.

Elko is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 3-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. Sparks' loss dropped their record down to 0-2.
